Barb and I decided that it would be good to have a semi-nice dress in case we do something dressy in China. The dresses I have are either casual summer dresses, or nice dresses. I wanted something in-between. I wanted it to have sleeves so it would be appropriate in all situations. You would think I was asking for a space ship! Apparently, to save money on fabric, companies have completely stopped making sleeves...
I tried Gordmon's, because they usually have some cute dresses. But Gordmon's clothes doesn't really fit me right. I find a ton of cute stuff, and then get discouraged that none of it fits me. I did find a cute dress that fit, but it was spandex-y black on top and went down into this really cute shirt that was white with big, bold orange and red flowers. It seemed a little too formal, and it really wasn't what I was looking for. I did find this really cute skirt though!
I got 2 shirts to wear with it, one brown, and one yellow. I ended up wearing the skirt with the yellow shirt to a friend's graduation party over the weekend. Here's a pic of the brown shirt:
But I still wanted a dress. We needed something from the pet store, and while we were there I made a discovery: TJMaxx. I'd never been there before, but I decided to go in (it was next door to PetCo) while G and babe went into the pet store to get what they needed.
One thing I didn't like was how the store was organized. It was organized really well in some aspects, like "casual," "dress," etc, but it was also organized by size. So instead of seeing a shirt, and then a bunch of sizes behind it, you had to go the rack and find your size, and then sort through your size. There was a lot of bigger stuff, but not a whole lot in my size. I did, however, find a really cute dress!
And, guess what?! It has sleeves! It's way cuter on, but I didn't feel like modeling and there wasn't a picture of it online.

I really liked the detail on the bottom:
Ahh... mission accomplished :)
Oh yes, we were also on another mission: Curtains. We got some for our room from Lowe's, and for babe's room from Walmart. Small babe wouldn't stop playing with cords even when we wrapped them up and told him not to. So, to stay safe, we thought it would be better to just get rid of our blinds for awhile. It was dark when I took these pictures, so you'll have to bear with me.
Eventually we would like to design our room around the curtains. It's green now, but we really liked these curtains. They're more... shall I say, sophisticated :)

It's important to say that I didn't like babe's curtains at first. We went to WalMart first, Target, JCPenney's, and Lowe's. These first ones were the only ones that matched and I have to admit, they look pretty cute in babe's room. He was sleeping when I took this picture, so I didn't get crazy close with the flash.
So we didn't spend a mint, and I really like our new curtains!
Love the dress! TJ Maxx and Marshall's aren't like normal stores, they end up with overstock for the most part. That's why most things are arranged by size instead of style, and why I hardly ever have the patience to shop there. They have amazing deals, but I get frustrated with digging!
ReplyDeleteYeah. I know how you feel about places like that and I understand why. Like I said, they didn't have a whole lot in our sizes. When I got home though, I saw the MSRP was $128! I got it for $39! That's amazing, and I love it! I wanted to go to a Marshalls, because I heard they had cute dresses, but we didn't know where one was exactly, and G thought TJMaxx was the same... ? not sure.
ReplyDeleteAh! I love the skirt and shirt! Good deals btw. I love TJ Maxx! If I could shop there every day, I would. They have such awesome deals. It just sucks you have to sort through the sizes to find what you like. Aaron hates when I go shopping there because I take FOREVER. I usually go without him..
