First Visit to Six Flags

My friend Heidi invited Vincent and I to Six Flags. She has a season pass, so we were able to go using her coupons making it relatively affordable. Vincent has never been to Six Flags. He has been to the local fair and enjoys the rides there.

He really loved Six Flags and had a blast with his friend Paige.
Vincent wanted to ride every ride. Unfortunately, he was a little too short for some, and a lot too short for others.

He ended up riding every ride in the kid's park, as well as the bumper cars, Mine Train, Scrambler, Moon Cars, Log Flume and Thunder River. Oh, and the Farris wheel. He couldn't pick a favorite, but after each one he wanted to go again.

The awesome part is that it was on a Wednesday afternoon, so it wasn't that busy. Some of the rides didn't have a line, so they didn't even have to get off or they could get off the ride then immediately get back on.

It was a really nice day, so we decided to focus on the theme park and not the water park.

I have a lot more, but apparently I only uploaded a few to Flickr, so this will have to suffice.
Vincent is already asking when we can go back!

I love this photo I took of a dog at a Purina Pro Plan show. Man, that dog was good!

Missing My Boy...

It's been awhile since I've updated this. With nicer weather I've been outside a little more.

I'll try to get caught up.

Gary's mom had been planning a vacation with her three grandsons, including Vincent. The day school ended, they headed to her house. I'd like to say I got a ton done, went out or did something crazy...but I didn't. Honestly, I missed my boy like crazy. Everyone kept telling me to go out and enjoy my "time off."

I did get to see Hangover II on a double date with my best friend and her husband. I also made cookies with my sister. Sure, I cleaned...but having a perfectly clean and organized house reminded me that no one was there to mess it up! Pathetic, huh? The truth is, I've never been a partier. Gary and I are both homebodies and actually enjoy spending time together, at home. I know it's crazy. We even talk about stuff, every day.

The most exciting thing I did? I took off the baby locks off the cabinets! It's about time! Vincent has been able to open them for years. I also organized the kitchen, but more on that another time.

I struggled with not going to see Vincent the first weekend he was gone, but unfortunately, our 150 gallon fish tank started leaking all over and we ended up having to take care of it. It wasn't too bad before we discovered the leak, but the water still leaked through our wood floors into the basement and knocked down a bunch of ceiling tiles. :s Oh, and we had a bunch of homeless fish. Luckily, we had an 80 gallon tank in the garage that didn't sell in a yard sale a few weeks prior. It served as a (cramped) temporary home. Only one fish was murdered because of the lack of space...It was sad, but I'm glad only one died. Gary really likes the fish.

After 10 whole days G and I went to pick up Vincent. When we got there the boys were eating hail balls... and loving it. I was so glad to have my little sidekick back! I don't even care if he leaves toothpaste in the sink and doesn't pick up his toys...He sure does make life a lot sweeter. I don't know what I'd do without him!

Earthquake!

A light earthquake shook Missouri and parts of Illinois early Tuesday morning, about 3:10 a.m. to be exact.

The funny thing is that when both this earthquake and the last earthquake occurred, I was sleeping and woke up both times.

The first time I saw my bedside table shaking as well as my lamp. I heard other things shaking too, but only for a second. In my sleeping daze, I thought it was "the ghosts." The funny part is that I was okay with the ghosts explanation.

Of course, the next morning I found out that it was a small earthquake.

This earthquake was mostly LOUD! I heard it and jumped up from bed (I'm even quoted in the story! It's not very often I get quoted). I was scared. Gary thought I was falling out of bed, so he reached over and tried to catch me.

In his defense I have fallen from bed before, more than once. AND, he has caught me mid-fall.

We decided that it was thunder and went back to sleep. Again, it wasn't until the morning that I found it was another earthquake.

Now, knock on wood, I've survived at least two earthquakes. Hopefully we are safe when the big one comes...

Midnight

Gary, Vin and I went to pick up this kitten from a friend of mine. He became part of the Butterfield family with Gary's mom as his adopted Mama. He is super playful and sweet. He stayed here for a few days. He cleared a spot on the dresser to lounge.

Midnight

Vincent wanted to name him Mr. Mice, Otis, Blackie and a few other names, but G's dad wasn't 100 percent sold on the kitten, so he got to name him. Midnight is fitting, too. Sweet little kitten.

Vin's Slippers

I promised I would upload a photo of Vincent's slippers I made him. Here they are. I know it's hot now, but he can still wear them this fall. They're pretty strecthy.

There was a party...

One week later my mom and I hosted a graduation party for Kristy. I know, I'm a little behind.
The food was great, some family came (others didn't and I'm an eensy bit bitter about it, but whatever) and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Cake. I cut that "LU" on the table out of posterboard. Yep, pretty proud of it.

As you can see there is a little boy and a little girl, colored pencils lining the side, a ruler on the bottom, a chalkboard, book, apple, abc, report card and more. Then, on the graduation cap there is an "LU" on the back there is a psychology symbol. The top is more dedicated to college graduation/psychology and the bottom is more fun, education themed. It was the only way I could come up with to inocrporate education and psychology that didn't involve a brain, and believe me, I thought of that...but mom wasn't loving the idea.
