More Resolutions

2010 was a good year. My biggest personal accomplishments were graduating from Webster University in May, and getting a job at The Missourian.
I also worked hard at being a good mom and giving Vincent everything he deserves.

I've been thinking about some things I want to accomplish and continue to do in 2011 in different parts of my life. Here's what I came up with, so far:

At home: To be a good, loving mother to Vincent and partner to Gary.
To teach Vincent to read and write, which we're already doing really, really well on. Also, to get him ready for preschool or kindergarten, whichever comes first.
I feel like I'm already doing these things, but I want to continue since they're the most important

Personal:
Find a church I can call home
Complete a 5K
Spend more time with my family
Spend less time social networking
Get back into scrapbooking
Crochet more
Pay off the Jetta, credit cards and make a good dent in my student loans
Take my family on a vacation

Work:
Be more concise- say more with fewer words, as needed
Make fewer mistakes, and avoid making stupid mistakes
Become a better photographer, practice and read manuals
Get more responsibilities as they are available

So I realize this is a lot, but really, I want to be a good person, improve myself and continue to do things I'm already doing... shouldn't be too bad.

Photo of the Day- January 3, 2011

I hate to do sky photos two days in a row. But, the sun, rising, was perfectly framed by tree branches and foliage this morning, Monday, January 3, 2011. It was beautiful.

The photo was taken using my Fugifilm Finepix Z30 and uploaded through flickr. This photo is unedited.

This is a picture of the sky at dusk Sunday, January 2, 2011. It was taken with my Fugifilm Finepix Z30 point and shoot camera and uploaded using flickr. It's not as sharp as I'd like it to be, but I'll work on that.

Resolutions

I'm not one who usually makes resolutions on for the New Year. I'm of the mind that if something needs to be changed there is no time like the present. But, it is as good of a time as any to start something new.

This year, starting today, I'm going to try to post one photo every single day.

I was going to make rules for myself about what kind of camera I would use and whether or not I would edit the photos, but at first, I think I will just try to stick with one photo per day and see how that goes. Later I may add different objectives, goals or "rules."

The only real rule I'm laying out at first is that the photo should be one that was taken that day and not before. I'm sure I might bend this rule, but I will try not to.

Sometimes the photos will be edited, sometimes not. Sometimes they will be taken with a nice camera, sometimes they will be shot with my point and shoot. they will be creative, tasteful, cute -- basically anything I see that catches my eye.

Sometimes I'm sure I will be stretched to find something and I'm sure sometimes there will be pictures of my family or pets or whatever. Like I said, so far, no rules about what I can't do.

As I get further into the year I would like to learn how to make the photos a bigger size on here and how to make a cute background for them, but tonight, I had to watch Milo and Otis with Vin, so I didn't get a chance to explore. I didn't want to fall of the boat on the first day.

I think it will be fun. It will make me more observant of the world around me, and it definitely couldn't hurt my photography skills.

I have some other things I would like to work on for the new year, but I will save that for a different post.

Last Christmas Post

I just wanted to share a few awesome things my awesome family and friends got me for Christmas.

Vincent loves these puppy slippers he got me, and so do I. :D
Gary got me a rowenta commercial garmet steamer similar to this one. It has some side things that open to store attachments. It's easy to use and I love it. It heats up really fast and is simple to use. I haven't used an iron since he gave it to me a few days before Christmas.

I also got a cute scarf, purple shoes, snowmen bowls, a sweater and bracelet, other jewlery, a book, makeup, a jacket, a movie, and other stuff from my family and friends.

I am so blessed.

Also, while I was taking down the Christmas tree, I decided to take a picture of my prized bird ornament collection. There are 8! I guess I only got one this year. It's not the best picture, and one head is cut off, but I was having problems with my camera taking them blurry.
