Spring Cupcakes

Gary's mom made these super-cute cupcakes at school. Monday just so happened to be a food day at work, so I asked her to show me how to make the spring looking treats. I settled on a flower and a bluebird. It was supposed to be a chick, but I didn't have yellow food coloring.

After hours of baking the little delacacies, they turned out pretty cute.

Everyone at work thought the cupcakes were really cute and I got tons of compliments.

My favorite part? They look a little like Dahlias, one of my favorite flowers!

See?

Unfortunately, people didn't really pick them up off the table to eat. I'm not sure if they weren't sure what was in them, or if they were worried they were too unhealthy, or what. And actually, I did figure out the calories, but I decided not to share it with my coworkers so they wouldn't skip 'em solely on that...

The flowers finally got eaten, but some of the birds had to come back home and didn't really love the pretty warm Monday afternoon. Oh well.

AFTER I had already started making the cupcakes I thought about doing a how-to on these. Oh well, maybe next time.

  1. Love the flower cupcakes! They turned out really well! I like the little duckies too. You should look into cake pops. They're really easy to make I think. Thank you so much for reading my blog Karen. It means so much knowing someone is reading what you're pouring out of your heart. Hope with all the storms up in STL you all have stayed safe.
