A Loved Mama

This year was the first Mother's Day that I didn't have to work. Up until this year, I was working as a server and always worked Sundays, whether they were a holiday or not. My thought process is that I'm a mom every day, as well as a daughter. I don't need to be pampered when a sweet kiss from a little monster will say the same thing. And I'm not just saying that because I'm one of those mom's who no one bother's to do anything for. I'm saying that because it's how I truly feel.

That said, I had a wonderful Mother's Day. My little goose and Gary got me a new photo printer. I had an HP printer similar to the one below. Gary got it as a surprise for me when I returned home from China a few summers ago.

The old one was similar to this:

After thousands of pictures, the thing finally quit working. I was pretty angry at first, because I only had it for about two years. It worked great at first, but eventually kept saying there was paper jam, despite that there wasn't. It would print ½ or 1/3 of a picture then spit it out to tell me about the jam. So in addition to wasting ink, it was also wasting expensive paper. I tried cleaning it thinking maybe a tiny piece of paper had somehow gotten in there, although I didn't really see how since it doesn't actually cut the pictures.

Anyway, when we went to get a new one (he surprised me by bringing me to the store and telling me what we were there to get...), Best Buy only had one small one. It was $99 dollars. There were several things I didn't like about it. First, you the paper you had to use had perforated edges that you had to fold and tear after the picture was printed. Not so bad if you only print one picture, but say you print 100... a little annoying. Also, it was a tri-color printing system, which most are (either RGB or CMYK), but it printed the whole picture yellow, sucked it back in and laid down the red, sucked it back in and laid down the blue, to complete the picture. Then, the pictures didn't even look good! We used our own camera card to test the printers and look at quality. So a small printer was out.

At first I was disappointed, but we ended up with a whole new printer.

This is the new one:

It is a wireless printer, which is totally awesome, and it prints 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 photos. The small one only did 4x6, as did my previous one.

Yep, I can e-mail photos to it to print! Not that I have an iPhone, but still.

On Sunday, Gary and I took our moms, and Vincent, Cortney and Dena (my brother's girlfriend) to the Missouri Botanical Garden. It was a nice day, except that I forgot sunscreen! But that's neither here nor there. I also went shopping after the garden.
What a great family I have! I know everyone says this, but I am so lucky!

More Pictures Later. :D
