Memorial Day Weekend...

...always sucks at restaurants.

People have plans that don't include dining out. They float, drink, barbecue, and camp. So needless to say, work was super dead.

I realize I use this blog to complain a lot, but here I go again. Something pissed me off this weekend I wanted to tell you about.

I went to work Friday night (I always work Friday night and Sunday morning) and I wasn't on the schedule. grr. I had been switched to Saturday. So I went home and back to work Sat. night. That's not the angering part.

Anyways, I think I've told you about the head waitress and how mean (expletive deleted) she's been. I was in back of smoking and I had 2 tables. Yep, a whopping 2 on a Sat night...
I was in the banquet room talking to a coworker. Yeah. I probably should have been keeping a keen eye on my customers and every time they took a sip of their drinks I should have rushed over to fill them back up, but I didn't. In fact, I let this lady's coffee get half empty before she said something like, "I guess my waitress is lost, can you get me some more coffee?"

Head waitress, we'll call her Lisa today (mix things up a bit), comes into the back room and snaps, "Karen. You're customer just asked me to get her some more coffee. You need to get out there!"

So I went and checked on both of my tables. Lisa had maybe 3 at the time, so I'm sure it was terrible that she had to do something for me.

Anyways, she goes back and tells the manager on me.
Manager comes up and says,
"Karen, what were you doing in the banquet room?"
Sigh. "Nothing."
"Lisa said your customers said their waitress was lost again or something like that."
"No. Just lost. Not again. I only didn't fill her coffee once."
"Well. Just pay attention."

Okay. Was that really necessary? It happens to every single server. I was taking good care of them. They even (gasp) tipped me in spite of the coffee incident.

It just pissed me off that she told me, and then told on me.
THEN. Fast forward less than an hour. Lisa's daughter's aunt and cousin came in and she headed over to nonsmoking to talk to them. And guess what happened? She has not just 1, but 2 tables sit down and begin eating before she even saw them (a big no no especially since we weren't busy). So I got their drinks and Lisa finally made it over and said thank you.

I told the manager on her. Not really, but I wanted to. I really wanted to say something coy like, "hmm. It happens to everyone." or "Should I go tell Teri now?" But I refrained.

I've learned that in (expletive deleted)holes like that, less drama is better. It's better to get along with your coworkers even if you have to bite your tongue every once in the while (or every day).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Same story, different day.
Sunday.
Do you guys have people in your lives that their mere presence brings you down? Not in an angry sort of way, but in a spiritual "I'm further from God now" sort of way?

It's hard to explain. But I'll try to give you the Reader's Digest version.

I've been hurt. Really bad. By a church. Not God, or the establishment of church, but the actual members who attend the church. And not just one single time, repeatedly.

I've been working hard to get back to where I was and make myself stronger and closer to God. I've been doing a good job, mostly because I have people in my life now who love me and accept me where I am and for who I am. They remind me that God does too.

Anyways, my old pastor (a huge culprit) came in to work on Sunday. My heart sunk as I prayed they wouldn't sit in my section. But of course they did. All of them. Mom, dad, kids, and another couple I wasn't sure who they were, maybe parents? Anyways, 9 in all.

I tried to cut, but my manager said to give it a few more minutes. So I tried to give them away to a dear friend. She asked why and I briefly told her they hated me and I was going to hell. Her exact comment was (I love this) "Great! So give them to the dyke!?"

She decided not to take them. Can't really blame her. Looking back I shouldn't have told her why until after she had taken them.

So I served them. Because that is my job. But I knew that every time they looked at me they were judging me. They were condemning me, casting me to hell.

Especially the pastor's wife.
She was never really mean to me when I went to the church (besides wanting to sew my jackets shut so you couldn't see my shoulders, or sew my slit in my skirt so I wasn't "Showing everyone everything I had.") Okay, so that sounds kind of mean, but she wasn't to my face.

Their daughter, who I was pretty close to, tried to be nice. And I hope she was being sincere, but I know what she probably heard about me from her parents...

Recently, I've had this incident. Then, I saw another couple from the church at the store, and a different one (another condemner) at my yard sale (the wife is super sweet, but the husband is terrible...). Why? There were only like... 20 people who went to the church. Why do I have to run into all of them in such a short time span?

And here's a good one: Why do I feel so shameful and guilty when I really didn't do anything wrong?

Now that the Anticipation has Set in...

... I will tell you what I got from my jewelry party...

I had a hard time deciding, but I thought it would be cool to get one necklace and a bunch of "slides" to put on it. Then, I could get 5 or 6 necklaces that were really cool. So I got "Deb," a collar necklace (A):
And I got several pieces to wear with it:

This one is really cute

I got F. In light it looks purple-y blue:

This one (J) doesn't look right on Deb. It's reversible, so I thought it would be cool, but I need to find something else to wear it with. It's my least favorite.

This one is really pretty, and looks great on Deb. I didn't get the matching earrings.

I got this super-cute ring. J. I really love it and I've worn it since I got it. It's hard to see in this pictures. I'll have to get a better one...

I also got this necklace. It's super cute.

I got this for my sister. She loves it. I, on the other hand, think it's pretty hideo.

And I got this from my friends party (I got the set):

I will get this as my hostess gift when it comes in...

There was some really cute stuff I had to pass up. But my cute little one was getting sleepy while I was choosing. That's okay though. I'm happy with what I got, and I think I have plenty for awhile!

If you need a good way to get awesome jewelry, though, I would suggest hosting a party, because it was pretty fun.

Jewelry Party!

On Saturday, May 16th I had a jewelry party. Lia Sophia to be exact. I planned it for a bad day because a lot of people had graduation stuff to go to and I was worried no one would show up. After all, my facebook group I had created for the event only had 4 people attending, and 2 were me and the advisor.

But I make good food, so everyone decided to come. Just joking. A lot of people really did come though, so I was very pleased.
For the event we had strawberries and grapes, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate crackeltop cookies, cheese dip, and Mexican dip (which my mom made for me). here is a beautiful picture of some of the food.

Everything turned out really good, and tasted great too. Which I was glad about because I had never made the cookies before and I sometimes mess up first tries.

Even better, all of my guests seemed to be having fun. Two booked parties of their own! My advisor, who is a really good friend, was thrilled.

Friends, Kaley and Amy with me

My sister (Kristy)in the middle and her friends Crystalyn and Amanda

Me and JennellePart of Abby, Gretchen, Jennelle and Beth

Windy and Nicole (BFFs:))

Here's a pic of all the girls we could gather at that moment.

Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of everyone. O well. :)

Anyways, I did pretty well at the party. Several people didn't order, which I was totally okay with. After all, it is kind of expensive. 2 girls cancelled their order the next day. I'm not really sure why they even decided to order, because I don't feel like I put any pressure on anyone... o well again.

Anyways, On the Monday after my party G's mom got me another order, and I was planning on "closing" the party on Tuesday. Tuesday night, my mom dropped off 2 more orders and with the three of them it almost doubled my sales. (My mom's work friends spent $102, $120, and $190 and G's mom's friend spent $85) Of course, I understand my friends can't spend that much and I definitely don't blame them!

The jewelry arrived via UPS yesterday! I trifled through everyone's stuff and it is all really pretty. I think everyone will be pleased with their orders!

I had a very hard time deciding what to do with my hostess credit. There was SO much cute stuff to choose from! You guys will have to wait to see what I got (even though I already have the pictures ready!) I have to go do some stuff before work. I know... how will you ever wait?

Movie Night

Apparently I suck at movie reviews, so I'll spare you. But last night I watched "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and "Slumdog Millionaire."

"Paul Blart: Mall Cop" was almost exactly like "Observe and Report." In case you haven't seen either, they're both about loser mall cops who try to save the day. Inevitably there's a girl involved and an "inside job" going on. Now that I think about it, the similarities between the two movies are almost too much. It's like they're the same movie. Either way, it was okay. That's the best I can do. It was pretty funny at times, just because I like Kevin James (and Seth Rogen in Observe and Report).

Slumdog Millionaire, though, was excellent. It was a really good movie.

If you haven't seen it I would say you definitely should. I didn't expect much out of it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I can give you a very brief synopsis as not to ruin anything. It's about "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" (I think that's the show) in India. This young kid is winning big time, and they think he is cheating, so he is going through telling how he knows the answers. It's nothing like what you would expect. I won't say anymore.

Somehow though, I managed to stay up until midnight (which is super late for me) to finish this one.

Movie Maddness

Last night G and I decided we wanted to rent some movies. Now, we used to rent movies all the time, but it's become a special occasion in my house.

When Movie Gallery first opened they had awesome customer service. It made us happy to go there, even though there was a new "Red Box" phenomenon everyone kept telling us about. Apparently we could get the same movies for only $1 each night. But we continued paying $3.99/each to have them for 5 nights. We would turn them in after the first day to get our $1 rental credit, and a few times we took advantage of their "Play on Promise" where if they don't have a movie they said they would, you get it for free, and their other guarantee that you will like your movie. If you don't they will give you a new one for free.

We bought their little "movie cards," even.
The customer service has done nothing but go down. They will have 20 people in line and 3 workers doing nothing, and still won't open a second line. If this weren't enough...

Last night I was reminded why we stopped going there. I went in. I overlooked the movie I wanted. I asked a worker (there were 2 standing in the thing up front) and he directed me with words. "Left, up, left, down, right beneath Step Brothers." They couldn't even leave the little front thing to walk me less than 15 feet. I was actually the only customer in the store at the time.

Then, there were at least 10 movies (that I saw) laying on the floor. The other worker was eating I think. There was food all over the counter...

I found my other movie (I had a rent one get one free coupon) and went to check out. I got out my card and handed it to the guy, we'll call him Mike. Anyways, Mike apparently had a really important text message to attend to because he continued to text for at least 10 seconds while I had my hand out giving my card to him. So I calmly sat it back down since he didn't take it. He finished what he was doing ( I HATE work texters) and rang me up. "$4.49" he said.
I questioned him, "$4.49? I thought it was $3.99?"
"No. It went up a long time ago."
Then the other girl chimed in...
"It's been $4.49 since before I started working here. And I've been here like... 3 months." yep. She had a 'tude.
Back to me. "Okay"
Mike, who also happens to be "Team Leader" according to his badge, says, "Have a nice night."
Well I will. I suppose I haven't rented movies in 3 months, and I won't be again any time soon.

Don't they know you can go to a matinee for $5?

Benefits of Inversion

I spent some time looking up the benefits of inversion since I got my sweet new inversion table. Here is what I found:

Inversion helps in the relief of back pain in four ways:
· Discs hydrate: Clinical studies show that when inverted the separation between the vertebrae increases, this allows for moisture to be absorbed into the soft tissue of the discs, increasing the nutrient content as well as plumping the discs for better shock absorption and flexibility.

· Pressure is taken off of nerve roots: The height of the discs relates to the size of the passageway for the nerve roots to exit from the spinal column, so a plump hydrated disc creates maximum clearance, helping to alleviate any pressure or pinching of the nerve root.

· The spine is encouraged to realign: The traction applied also decompresses the spine to create an environment where misalignments can naturally fall back into place.

· Muscles are gently stretched as circulation is increased, helping to reduce tension.

Inversion also :

  • Reduces muscle tension/ stimulates lymph flow
  • Improves circulation: From Better Back, Better Body
“When you are in an inverted position-and this does not necessarily mean completely head down-you are helping your heart move venous blood from your legs and torso to the heart and lungs to be purified. When you are inverted, your heart is aided by gravity. This speeds the waste-laden blood from your lower body to your heart and lungs to be cleansed and rushes fresh, oxygen rich blood from your heart and lungs to your upper body and brain.”
The book also says inversion can help with varicose veins, and help keep your brain healthy.
Inversion:

  • Increases Flexibility and Range of Motion
  • Helps Correct Posture
  • Reduce the Effects of Aging Caused by Gravity (Counteracting Height Loss)
  • Provides Many (way too many to put on here) Benefits to Athletes

So there we have it. I will get to experience all of these wonderful benefits and hopefully have a relieved back :D.

Mother's Day

I'm one of those people who don't put a whole lot of stock into Mother's Day. I feel like my boys (G and babe) appreciate me every day, and I don't feel like they need to go out of their way to prove it to me more than ordinary. I have worked every Mother's Day for the past 6 years, including this one.

So my day started off with work. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be, probably due to the new steak house opening at the beginning of May. And all of the other restaurants that have opened around town. This year, we weren't really the "it" spot. But oh well, I still made as much as I do on any average Sunday. I got off later than usual because my boss is anal and he thought we were busy.

We were supposed to go to my mom's house after I got off work. Usually at family gatherings we eat dinner at about 6pm. Everyone kept calling me asking where I was (which didn't help me get ready any faster), so I said, "I'm on my way!" I guess when I said that everyone just started eating without me. This kind of hurt my feelings for more than one reason. 1 is because we always wait on my sister when she's running late, which is most of the time. Another reason is because even though we only showed up 10 minutes late, my brother was finished eating and back downstairs, so I didn't get to spend any time with him. okay...

The third reason, and this is kind-of selfish, is because I am a mom too. And I felt like I deserved to be waited for. Usually I show up at least a half an hour before we eat, but the one day I get kept late no one bothers to wait for me.

Then, everyone was wondering why I (and G) were crabby.

Other than the dinner situation, my Mother's Day was pretty good. G and babe got me a cool inversion table.

I always complain about my back, and G had heard from several people that this "changed their lives." So he decided to get me one. Ever since I had the baby my back has hurt pretty bad. We got a Tempur-Pedic bed to see if that helped, which it really did, just not enough. There are a lot of benefits to inversion, which I will post later.

It feels sort-of weird and you can't fully invert on the first time around. It's sort of something you have to work up to. As for the benefits--we will have to wait and see. You can also use this inversion table to exercise, which they show you in the tutorial video. I might try that too.

The other week, my mom get a new camera. She took some pictures on the internal memory before she got a memory card. To look at the internal memory pictures you have to take out the memory card on this camera (I know... weird). She was trying to show someone some pictures and when she went to put the memory card back in she put it in upside down. When there was resistance (because it was upside down...) she crammed it in there breaking not only the memory card, but her brand new camera.

I tried to take it back to Office Max for her, but they (of course) wouldn't take it back. That sort of made me mad, because they're not really losing a ton of money on it. They knew it was customer damage because she left the memory card in the compartment and there were pliar marks on it from when she got it out.

So she thought all was lost. To be quite honest, I did too. But I decided the worst Olympus could do is not fix it either, but then the situation would just be the same. I called Olympus. I didn't tell them the whole story, just the problem. I was a little worried because I had heard that Olympus had bad customer service. But I got lucky. The lady was really nice and emailed me a repair form. They would look at it and if I needed to pay they would let me know before doing any work.

I made copies of the warranty card, and the receipt, and sent off the camera to Olympus to see what they said.

Over a week and a half passed and I hadn't gotten any reply, either good or bad, so I gave them a ring. The person said it had been repaired and shipped out the day before. Really?! Yes! Perfect time for Mother's Day! I gave my mom her old (new) camera back and got her a new memory card. She was so happy, and it only cost $20 for shipping and the new card.

I'm pretty sure this is the one she has...
Anyways, my sis got mom a rose bush and my brother got her a new cutting board (which she needed pretty bad).

Oh yes. I almost forgot. G hadn't gotten his mom anything for Mother's Day. So after work I ran to JCPenneys and got her this cool "grandmother" necklace. They didn't have the one I originally liked so I ended up with a cricular one that said "Love" in 4 different languages. Then in the middle there was a place for a picture. I was surprised that the next day she had found a small enough picture to fit in there and she wore it to school. Yay! :)

Shopping!

Man! My babe is growing like a weed (I know it's trite, but it's true). I felt like all of his shirts were too short (even though they were technically acceptable, I didn't like it). I don't like when shirts rest right at pant lines, or stick out at the belly. It's hard to explain without just saying I felt like his shirts were too small. His pants are all getting WAY too short. They're becoming Capri's, which is not okay for my boy. I wasn't too worried about pants though, because he still has a few pairs that are okay, and it's almost summer.

Shorts. Now they're a different story. Last year, babe had a pretty big baby belly, so I had to buy shorts a little bigger. Now that he's grown, it's mainly been taller. He had something like 14 pairs from last year that still fit nicely.

So G and I decided to go shopping and get some new summer clothes.
The baby picked out many of the new clothes he got. We went to Children's Place (at the mall), and then to Target. We were going to go to Old Navy (because they ALWAYS have cute baby boy clothes) but it was getting late and we already had plenty of stuff. Plus, I can go crazy on baby clothes at Old Navy.

Here's a pic of what we ended up with:

babe thinks skulls mean "pirates" for some reason. I think because at Halloween he was a pirate and his costume had skulls on it. Anyways, he likes skulls and crossbones now.

The Skull tank and the monkey shirt he picked out by himself. Children's Place had a really cute shark shirt that said "hungry," but he wanted the monkey shirt. Here are a few more:

Out of this second bunch he picked the surf bus (he thought it was a firetruck...), and the Spiderman.

I even managed to find him a cute shirt for next year:

In order to get shirts that were long enough and accounted for shrinking, I had to get a 4T! I found out that a 4T (toddler) and a 4 in boys is the same. So if I'm going to be buying size 4's my selection just got a little bigger. Yay! JCPenney never has cute toddler clothes, so maybe I can find something in boys next time. :)

Also, I've been looking for a cute pair of shoes to wear to China that would go with both brown and black (because I don't want to bring too much stuff). Oh yeah, and our advisor recommended we not wear sandals. I didn't want to wear heels, because chances are I will be walking a lot. I found a really cute pair at target in Washington, but of course they didn't have them in my size :(. But, since we were in Chesterfield Valley we checked and they had a pair!

I love the shoes! I got some of those little socks to go inside so they don't rub my ankles or the top of my feet. The little sockie things are actually pretty comfortable and I think I might get some more. It's kind of funny that those thin little sockies they give you to try on at shoe stores now cost money (about $2/pair). It's worth it though to keep your feet comfy!
Overall, it was a successful shopping day, and babe should have plenty of clothes for the summer. So long as his feet stay the same size...
He might need some new PJs but they can wait a bit. He can use his other (short) shirts for play clothes outside. Yay!

ps. I just figured out an easier way to post these for next time. Hopefully. So that's cool :)

Messing Around

At the request of my only reader, I decided to play with putting pictures on here. This is from our family visist to Aholt Farms. I was trying to take a picture of the piggy and he got realllly close! Isn't he cute?

Finals

I had finals for class last week. I was really disappointed because I didn't do well on the last paper I had for one of my classes. I asked if I could edit it and get a better grade, and my teacher said yes. So I have been working on it this week and I will turn it in today.

I asked my teacher, who I had 5 classes with, if he thought I was going to do okay in my independent study classes. I had a reading class, a freelance class, and a newspaper management class on my own. He said he didn't know because he hasn't graded my work. This made me angry, and worried too, of course. It made me mad because I had been turning stuff in all semester. I actually turned in 2 papers the first week of class. First, if I turned something in all the way back in Jan. why hasn't it been graded? And second, I would have thought that with the first papers, if I had been doing something wrong, he would have told me so I didn't continue to do it wrong. So needless to say, if I get a bad grade I will be crushed.

My freelance class is the same story. You're required to take two semesters of newspaper production (4 credits each). I had a class get cancelled and I needed the credits, so he said I could freelance for 1/2 credit. But he NEVER gave me any assignments. So I went to one of the editors and told him my situation (he was in another class of mine). I told him if they needed anyone to do something, just to let me know. I also suggested writing about the Missouri Grant and how it would affect our students if the program were cut. But the next week, another reporter was contacting me to interview me for the paper I suggested.

So I just started turning stuff in. With permission, I used articles I wrote for my advanced reporting class, and from my intro class (I updated them). I wrote a fresh editorial, and a letter to the editor.

My teacher never gave me any expectations, assignments, lengths, # of papers I needed to write, nothing. I brought it up at least 5 times. Each time, he told me he would get back to me, or email me some stories I needed to complete, but to no avail.

The worst part about it is that I can't really complain. Not only will he have to be my teacher for at least 1 class the next 2 semesters, he is also my advisor, and could really help me get a job. So I don't want to piss him off... too bad.

I feel like I did my part. I did everything I could to make sure I was doing things correctly, and kept up with all of my work. If I get anything less than expected I will be so upset. I know in the grand scheme of things it really won't matter, but to me it will.

On my actual finals, I think I did okay. I'm sure I will find out on the last possible day to turn in grades how I did.

Yard Sales

My garage was a disaster. Things were strewn and stacked everywhere to the point where you could barely even walk in there. It's not G's fault that he's a packrat, but some of it had to go.

So we decided to have a yard sale with all of out nice things that we didn't just want to give away (we were preparing for a benefit rummage sale). Then, we could control the prices, and keep our stuff if we wanted to. Right? Wrong!

Everything at the yard sale had reasonable prices. Especially for what the cost. I had some baby stuff (a jogging stroller, jumperoo, etc. + there was a drum head, weight set, aquarium (with all the stuff), bass guitar... you get the point). The cheapest thing was the jumperoo that was around $70 new. No one would just pay what we asked for it. I didn't want to even sell the jumperoo, but Gary insisted that it took up too much room. So I put $35 on it. Someone offered $20. I wouldn't take less than $25. It was in perfect condition. Everything worked. It was clean, and only used for a few months.

All the "negotiating" kind of put me in a bad mood.

Then, to top it off, my old youth pastor stopped by. Of course, he didn't know I still lived there or they wouldn't have been caught dead at m house. I was wearing cutoff jeans and a tank top. As he looked at me with his damning eyes I knew he was judging me, just for what I was wearing. He doesn't know I (GASP!) have a child out of wedlock (Or maybe he does, I'm not sure. I wear a ring though so unless he asked someone who knew for sure...)

Last time I saw him, 2 years ago at Ponderosa, he told me (again...) that God wanted me to only wear dresses. I told him I wasn't going to do that and he said something like, "That's just what the Bible says." Ugh.

His wife is really nice though, and she hasn't ever (overtly) done anything to hurt me, so I chatted with her for a minute.

Overall, we sold almost all of our junk, besides the weight set, because G was firm on the price, unlike with everything else. We made nearly $200, but only because G sold a few (of his many) fishing poles for pretty good prices. It's amazing to me what people will pay for fishing poles. G says they're really expensive new, so $20 for just a rod (no reel) is great. OK.

The next weekend it started all over. I spent several days at the church sorting through junk, pricing, and getting ready for the rummage sale. It was pretty much my project because the money benefits Toddler Town.

Later, someone went through and repriced stuff, making it more or less expensive. A good example is a really nice bat. G had priced it $25. Seems high for a bat, but new it was nearly $300 (We looked it up). It got lowered to $3. Someone got a really great deal. I know that if you want to make money you have to make stuff cheap, but some stuff is really worth the prices. Anyways, it was on Sat. from 6am-2pm and it was supposed to be a pancake breakfast too.

The pancake breakfast portion was pretty much a flop. 2 other places in town were having pancake breakfasts and the yard-sale crowd was on a mission.

It was the same deal. We had $1 for each piece of clothes. One girl had brought tons of brand new baby clothes, tags still attached. I would have been ecstatic to get some of this stuff for $1. And some people were. But one person was like... "If you want to get rid of these clothes you're goin' to have to make 'em cheaper!" Are you kidding? You just want them for free? Several people had that attitude.

One person had donated a $250 film camera in perfect condition. He had priced it at $10, and some guy got mad that he got charged 2.50 for it. He only wanted to pay "a buck." It even had a really nice case with it.

Stories like this continued ALL day. $10 for a brand new pair of shoes was too much (the rest of the shoes were $2), $2 for a pair of baby shoes was too much (even though I had just bought my baby some shoes at a yard sale for $2...).

Matt finally made a sign that said, "This is a fundraiser. Not a free-for-all." I think after his camera sold for 2.50. It was too close to the end of the day though.

Then, at the end of the day, we didn't want to have to deal with bringing all the leftover junk anywhere, so we bagged up the clothes for loving hearts (It was in good shape), and put the rest outside for free.

Then, all of the sudden, things that were overpriced at .25 when they were inside were essential items as people piled their cars full of stuff. People were like, "I have a question about this... "I was like, "It's free. Take it or leave it."

Then someone else was like, "Is there more inside?!" I was like... NO! You freakin' schmo. If you want to go inside, go inside and help for all that stuff you just piled in your car. I didn't say that, but I thought it.

Overall, I would say the day was successful. We made almost $900 for Toddler Town. We had to pay for shirts and some indoor/outdoor carpet so the kids don't hut themselves on the concrete. Then we put some into savings and we will use some for big toys (playhouses, etc.) for the kids.

Was it really worth all the emotional stress? Does anyone know any better way to raise money?

I don't mean to be a complainer, because I am happy that it went well. It was just a really stressful, super annoying thing, and I think most of us involved would agree.

Here's a Funny Story...

The other day I was in class, and our teacher was talking about how he brought some young boy (not sure on the age) to Hooters. While at the restaurant he had all of the waitresses take a picture with the boy. Upon hearing this, a girl in my class says, "You wanted to serve wings, and suddenly you're an object." She said it very matter-of-factly. I thought this was hilarious. I said, (and no offense to anyone who has ever worked at Hooters), "I don't think you work at Hooters so you can serve wings." She retorted, "Yeah, you do it because you want a paycheck." ummm... yeah. Doubt it. I said something to that extent and she commented that she was too tired to argue about why anyone would get a job at Hooters.

That being said, I would work at Hooters. But not because I wanted to serve wings. It would be because there are a bunch of drunk guys who will give you a lot of money for barely any work because you show your cleavage. On the other hand, I work at a crappy restaurant where you have to work your butt off for less than 10% of the bill. I'm talkin' way less sometimes.

She can't fool me.
